Floodplain approval for a new stilt SFR with the
following conditions:
The finished floor of any habitable enclosed area
must be elevated to or above DFE. The Florida
Building Code changed on January 1, 2018 to
require a foot of freeboard for residential
structures.
All electrical and mechanical machinery servicing
the building, including the electric meter, AC and
all duct work, must be located at or above DFE.
Grade is elevated to 4.5 feet so the bottom of all
components must be at least 5.5 feet above grade.
Construction must be anchored to resist flotation,
lateral movement and collapse during or as a

openings must be within 1 foot of adjacent grade.
The entire opening must be at or below BFE.
Enclosure may not exceed 299.00 square feet when
measured from finished exterior dimensions. Should
the final inspection/elevation certificate
demonstrate the enclosure exceeds 299.00, no
Certificate of Occupancy will be issued until the
enclosure size is reduced. Enclosure must be used
solely for building entry, limited storage and/or
parking. It cannot be used for habitation/living
space of any kind.
A final enclosure inspection is required prior to
Certificate of Occupancy. All work on enclosure
must be completed and enclosure must be empty of
all but permanent elements in order to be
inspected
Additionally, permit approved for the installation
of louver shadow box walls, which must be wood or
vinyl, 40% open and of a material no thicker than
