Floodplain Management: Located in SFHA zone AE 11
with a design flood elevation (DFE) of 12 feet
NGVD. Floodplain approval to repair existing
in-ground pool. Pool/spa must be designed and
installed as to prevent flotation, lateral
movement or collapse during or as a result of
conditions of the base flood. Lights and machinery
serving the pool/spa and located below DFE must be
on own separate GFCI protected circuit breaker and
clearly marked on electrical panel so power can be
disconnected in case of flood event. If a separate
electric circuit/junction box serves the pool
equipment it must be located at or above DFE. Pool
control panel must be elevated to or above DFE
unless elevation precludes complying with safety
requirements.
Pool equipment must be either:
a. Elevated and securely anchored to a platform;
the height of the platform could be to DFE or as
high as practical, given limitations on the
owner's access.
OR
b. If not elevated, be anchored to prevent
flotation and protected to prevent water from
entering or accumulating within the components
during conditions of flooding. Unless properly
elevated, pool equipment may not be placed below
the elevated structure meaning not within the
footprint of any columns or pilings. Equipment may
not be attached to any breakaway wall. SM

with the Monroe County Public Works & Engineering
Division. Work performed within the right of way
may require a separate permit or approval in
addition to a permit issued by the Monroe County
Building Department and /or the utilities. It is
the responsibility of the owner to obtain all

result in work stoppages or penalties.
