FLOODPLAIN MANAGEMENT APPROVAL: Located in SFHA
zone AE 9 with a design flood elevation of 10 feet
NGVD. This is a Post FIRM stilt SFR at the correct
elevation. A pre-permitting inspection of the
ground level enclosed area was conducted on
10/23/18. Most of the enclosure under the house is
now gone. The only remaining enclosure is a 511
square foot concrete block area in the middle of
the ground level. The two sides and rear walls of
the garage are gone. The existing enclosure is
slightly nonconforming but is being brought into
compliance in order to improve. the enclosure.
1. The plans now show the only remaining enclosure
is 511 square feet but still exceeds the size
allowed under current code. Since the enclosure
was permitted, the 511 square feet may remain.
2. Demolish the two small partitions inside the
511 square foot enclosure.
3. Only one GFI outlet and necessary light switch
may be below the design flood elevation of 10 feet
NGVD.
4. Demo the cable connection inside of the
enclosure.
5. Install a minimum of 511 net square inches of
flood venting. There must be at least two vents
and all vents cannot be located on the same wall.
The bottom of the vents can be no higher than 12
inches above grade. If louver covers are applied,
additional venting may be required,
6. The enclosure must be unfinished, unless with a
class 4 or 5 finish based on FEMA Technical
Bulletin 2.
7. Enclosure may not be constructed or equipped
for any habitation and may only be used for
limited storage, parking or entry.
***A FEMA Compliance inspection(type 157) is
required prior to closing this permit. Approved
and deemed nonsubstantial- Approval of this permit
does not guarantee future permits should the
structure be determined to be substantially
damaged, unless such permits addressed and
corrected any existing nonconformity- MW

PER THE FLORIDA BUILDING CODE: ALL WINDOWS & DOORS
MUST HAVE THE AFFIXED PERMANENT LABELS PROVIDED BY
THE PRODUCT APPROVAL HOLDER. THE LABELS MUST NOT
BE REMOVED PRIOR TO THE FINAL INSPECTIONS OR A
CERTIFICATE, IF APPLICABLE. APPROVED SITE SPECIFIC
DESIGN PRESSURES AND MANUFACTURE SPECIFICATIONS
MUST BE ON SITE FOR INSPECTIONS.
IF LABELS ARE REMOVED, THE INSPECTION WILL FAIL.
Work in the right of way requires coordination
with the Monroe County Public Works & Engineering
Division. Work performed within the right of way
may require a separate permit or approval in
addition to a permit issued by the Monroe County
Building Department and /or the utilities. It is
the responsibility of the owner to obtain all
required permits before starting work. Failure to
obtain a right of way permit when required may
result in work stoppages or penalties.
