• All documentations, including but not limited to
• corrections, revisions, clarifications, or
• engineering letters, must be submitted to an
• appropriate Building Department location.
• PERMIT APPROVAL FOR CONSTRUCTION OF 266 SQ. FT.
• "A"-ZONE LOWER ENCLOSURE, UNDER EXISTING SFR, PER
• APPROVED PLANS ONLY.

• ZONE AE-8 -PANEL 1336 K
• Application is to construct a 266-sf ground-floor
• enclosure beneath an elevated post-FIRM residence
• within a Special Flood Hazard Area, a FEMA
• designated AE-8 floor zone with a Design Flood
• Elevation (DFE) of +9-ft NGVD, within a Mapped
• Repetitive Flood Loss Area. The grade is at an
• elevation of +5.7-ft, placing the DFE +3.3+ft
• above the grade.
• The interior to remain unfinished and its use is
• strictly limited to storage, parking and access to
• any higher levels. Construction must be anchored
• to resist flotation, lateral movement, and
• collapse during or as a result of conditions of
• the base flood.
• • All materials, components and finishes below the
• DFE must be flood damage resistant per FEMA
• Technical Bulletin 2.
• • The 266-square-foot AE zone enclosure usage is
• strictly limited to: storage, parking or access to
• higher levels. No habitation, interior finishes,
• plumbing, mechanical, appliances or utilities
• allowed. Minimum electric only, limited to one
• electrical outlet, which must be GFI protected, is
• allowed below DFE. Light switches must be water
• resistant and on its own ground fault interrupt
• circuit breaker. No temperature control allowed.
• Walls must be flood vented in accordance with
• Monroe County Floodplain Ordinance with a net
• opening of one (1) square inch for every square
• foot of enclosed space. Enclosure must have a
• minimum of two openings on separate walls having a
• net opening of not less than one (1) square inch
• per square foot of enclosed space. The bottom of
• openings must have a height within 1 foot above
• the adjacent grade or interior floor. The entire
• opening must be at or below Base Flood Elevation
• (BFE). Enclosure may not exceed 299.00 square feet
• when measured from finished exterior dimensions.
• Should the final inspection/elevation certificate
• demonstrate the enclosure exceeds 299.00sf, no
• Certificate of Occupancy nor final floodplain
• inspection will be issued until the enclosure size
• is reduced. Enclosure must be used solely for
• building entry, limited storage and/or parking. It
• cannot be used for habitation/living space of any
• kind.
• • A final enclosure inspection is required prior
• to Certificate of Occupancy. All work on enclosure
• must be completed and enclosure must be empty of
• all but permanent elements in order to be
• inspected. -SF

• PER THE FLORIDA BUILDING CODE: ALL WINDOWS & DOORS
• MUST HAVE THE AFFIXED PERMANENT LABELS PROVIDED BY
• THE PRODUCT APPROVAL HOLDER.
• THE LABELS MUST NOT BE REMOVED PRIOR TO THE FINAL
• INSPECTIONS OR A CERTIFICATE, IF APPLICABLE.
• APPROVED SITE SPECIFIC DESIGN PRESSURES AND
• MANUFACTURE SPECIFICATIONS MUST BE ON SITE FOR
• INSPECTIONS.
• IF LABELS ARE REMOVED, THE INSPECTION WILL FAIL.
• ENCLOSURE MAY AFFECT HOME OWNERS INSURANCE.
• Work in the right of way requires coordination
• with the Monroe County Public Works & Engineering
• Division. Work performed within the right of way
• may require a separate permit or approval in
• addition to a permit issued by the Monroe County
• Building Department and /or the utilities. It is
• the responsibility of the owner to obtain all
• required permits before starting work. Failure to
• obtain a right of way permit when required may
• result in work stoppages or penalties.

• PLANS.
• ALL DEBRIS TO BE REMOVED TO A LEGAL DUMPING SITE.
